Michael DeLorenzo is a 50+ year veteran of the car rental industry whose career began in 1969 renting vehicles from his family’s gas station in Laurel, Maryland. Starting with a fleet of just 10 cars, he grew operations to multiple locations and thousands of vehicles, ultimately leading one of the largest local Budget Rent a Car operations in the United States. He later spearheaded the development of the independent NextCar brand and helped lead the national expansion of Rent-A-Wreck and Priceless Car & Truck Rental, supporting more than 150 franchise locations across the U.S. and internationally. Today, through NP Auto Group and NP Franchise Group, DeLorenzo oversees a global network of franchise, affiliate, and corporate locations operating thousands of vehicles. In 2018, he received the Auto Rental News Impact Award, the industry’s highest honor, recognizing his lifetime of leadership and contributions to independent rental operators. A frequent industry speaker and board member of the American Car Rental Association, DeLorenzo remains an advocate for franchisees and small business operators nationwide.
